Whatever Happened to Skee-Lo? Rapper of "I Wish..."

How We Know Him: In 1995 Skee-Lo (AKA Antoine Roundtree) hit it big as a rapper and most people remember him from a song called "I Wish". The song was a hit in the USA and across Europe. The video, with its Forrest Gump theme, made a regular appearance on MTV...



UPDATE! Where is Skee-Lo today? Did he ever get with Leoshi? Here is what I have found out...

in 2012 Jeff Weiss of LA Weekly caught up with Skee-Lo at a Denny's on Crenshaw Blvd. Skee-Lo revealed that very soon after the song "I Wish" he retired from rap. According to him his label took all of the profits that the song made. So why would he continue if he wasn't making anything?

After a long battle Skee-Lo eventually did get the rights to his song. Good thing because like many of you, I heard the song on a Toyota car commercial with Kaley Cuoco recently...




Nowadays Skee-Lo still lives in LA with his wife Stacy and kids. I also found Skee-Lo's website www.wegotfreshideas.com where I found other updated information on the rapper. This includes his latest album which is also entitled "Fresh Ideas". There are twelve songs on it, and I actually thought that some of the songs were even better than "I Wish". One song in particular is called "Hip Hop" which I thought was especially good. All of this is part of his company Skeelo Music LLC that his wife is also a part of. The new album can be bought in stores on July 9th, 2013. Best Buy, K-Mart, Barnes and Noble are all set to carry it. 


In a press release that was sent to me on June 26, 2013 Skee-Lo stated "Our mission is to introduce a new sound, attitude, and business.  I am grateful to SONY “RED MUSIC, MRI, WhatevaOK Entertainment for distributing our music and sharing with us our vision. This, no doubt, will create new opportunities for independent talent." 

I also tried to reach Skee-Lo by phone but my calls weren't returned by the time I posted this article. Skee-Lo is on Twitter as well: Skeelo_Musik where he regular updates fans.

How We Know Her: First of all I have to apologize because this update took some time. Amanda Peterson (Can't Buy Me Love fame) has been one of the toughest ones to find. I meant to get an update on her about a week ago, but it took me sometime.

UPDATE 2, July 6, 2015: I am shocked and saddened to say that Amanda Peterson has passed away. As of this moment, we are still awaiting her cause of death. Her father, who is a doctor in Greeley, CO states that sleep apnea could have been a contributing factor but we don't know anything for sure. I can say also say that Amanda's mother, Phyllis Peterson, also stated that at a time Amanda had issues with drugs.  All of that doesn't really matter at this stage. What matters to me is that this wonderful person that we all have been a fan of has passed. She was a great actress and person.

UPDATE! Where Is Amanda Peterson Now?

So, I am happy to say that Amanda is still around and living in Colorado with her family. Last month Amanda also took some beautiful shots for a website KR Productions which can be seen here:

Now the "KR" stands for Kasha-Ryan. Ryan is the photographer for the site. He has stated that he didn't even plan on taking those pictures of Amanda Peterson, and she was only there because she "volunteered to do hair and makeup for some first time models at a shootout." He went on to say "It wasn't until about halfway through the day she decided to have me take some shots." This may shed a light on what Amanda has done for work since she left tv/movies back in the mid-90's. Perhaps she has been working doing hair/makeup? I can't be sure. One of the pictures there is of Amanda doing makeup for a model and another one is Amanda talking to some of the models. KR Productions also stated "There is a lot in the works and more photos to come so please be patient as she makes this adjustment back into the public eye. Last year there was a "Can't Buy Me Love" reunion. No, Amanda wasn't there. They of course asked about her though.  Here is the youtube video from that reunion. They talk more about Amanda towards the end. No, this is not my youtube video, but was posted on youtube by someone in attendance.

How We Know Her? She played Vicki Needleman on "Saved by the Bell: The New Class." This was on after Zack, Kelly, and Jesse left... There was a second class. Vicki Needleman was sort of the new Jesse Spano, played by Bonnie Russavage. After Saved by the Bell, I can't find hardly anything else that Bonnie Russavage was in. She was certainly very hard to find. This left some fans of the show googling around for her. Well... I eventually did find her.

WHERE IS SHE NOW? Bonnie Russavage is now Bonnie Cooper. She graduated from Redding University with a degree in Business Admin. She was married and had a son. She eventually did get divorced but her legal last name is still Cooper. She now works as a recruiter at "Clark & Company." From her profile it looks like she tries to find jobs for people in the medical field, especially phramacists. I did try to email her a few months ago, but she did not respond. Today, July 10 is her birthday. She is 36. She currently lives in Chino Hills, CA.
